Kihada strongly believes in community stewardship, and cultivating a symbiotic, mutually beneficial kinship with our neighbours. The future of our success lies within the community, and that’s why we’re proud to contribute to local organizations and charities every year. Dreams Take Flight is one of the amazing non-profit organizations we have the privilege of working with, and their first annual Gala 4 Dreams Swing Fling is just around the corner!

Dreams Take Flight is the national non-profit organization of Air Canada employee and retiree volunteers responsible for bringing the Magic of Disney to 125 special needs children each year – kids who couldn’t otherwise afford to experience the thrills of Disneyland. Since their inception 20 years ago, the group has sent over 2350 children ages 6-10 to Disneyland for a day of freedom from their ongoing physical or mental struggles. Dreams Take Flight, in cooperation with BC Hospitals, school boards, and other agencies, dedicates every effort to granting kids a profoundly positive experience at “the happiest place on earth” – a chance to just be a kid again that might be a ray of hope for the rest of their lives. The benefits of this work, many and immeasurable, have touched the lives not only of the children involved, but their families as well.

Here at Kihada, we’ve had the pleasure of creating the design and marketing materials for the past 14 years of the Dreams Take Flight initiative. We’ve even flown with them to Disneyland for each of those years! The gratification and fulfillment we glean from supporting their efforts and granting kids a day of dreams is indescribable.

To help raise the $700 it costs per child, Dreams Take Flight presents the Swing Fling Dinner and Dance Gala, their first annual Gala 4 Dreams fundraiser. The event will be an unforgettable night of live music, fantastic food, and community fellowship hosted by the Delta Hotel Vancouver Airport on SATURDAY APRIL 28^th 2012. Local event band SideOne will have toes tapping and feet flying to favourites from Aretha Franklin, Queen, Kings of Leon, and everyone in between as soon as they hit the stage. The silent and live auction features are also sure to impress!
